A strong longer koshi-zori piece with excellent balance. Tight ko-mokume hada, gunome choji hammon with nioi. Chu-kissaki with ko-maru sagari. Koshirae is late Edo to mid-meiji with a shima (stripped) saya, classic wasp shaped tsuka, and a magnificent goat theme tsuba. Silver habaki with clouds and rain pattern.

Signed: Unshu (enshu) no Ju Kunihisa, no date. Kunihisa lived at Hirose in Izumo province (famous for production of sand iron ore) at the end of the Tokugawa period (1865). (Hawleys: KUN 265)
