Simple but elegant older Meiji period fittings mount this tachi mei signed piece by Sukemori. Excellent older tsuba with silver inlay of rabbit with flowers. Saya is done in a shima (stripped) pattern with an iron kojiri. Blade is tori-zori, with suguha hammon, ko-itame tsume, miji shinoji-jihada, nioi-deki. Ko-kissaki with ko-maru.

Blade is signed: Bizen Kuni Osafune Ju Yokoyama Sukemori. Sukemori worked in the Bizen province in the Kansei period (1789-1800). He is the son of Uji Toshimori. (Hawleys: SUK 743)
