Description: Mumei gendaito made by “Yakuwa Tadao”.  This appears to be one of his earlier pieces.

This is a strong, well balanced piece, shinoji-zukuri, torri-zori (maybe slight koshi-zori), iroi-mune, standard shape nakagowith kujiri.

Yasurime is katte-sagari.

Jihada is ko-mukome hada, nioi-deki, with notare midare hamon and ko-maru boshi.

The saya is new but tsuka older and fittings are old, Edo period, as is tsuba which is an very good piece.

For regular practice and cutting, the tsuka should be replaced
